The Ivy House proudly works alongside Armadillo & Co to bring their beautiful handmade rugs to New Zealand homes. When you purchase an Armadillo & Co rug you're also part of a very special community - read the following message from Jodie Fried and Sally Pottharst, founders of Armadillo & Co.

From the start of our journey almost ten years ago, we’ve poured our hearts into making Armadillo & Co a leader in social responsibility, so we are excited to announce the launch of the not-for-profit Armadillo & Co Foundation as the philanthropic arm of our business.

The Foundation’s mission is to enhance the lives of underprivileged communities in India through educational, health and community initiatives.
We will be contributing $5 from the sale of each Armadillo & Co rug and we invite donations from customers, like-minded companies and the general public.

Armadillo & Co has also established a local medical clinic, subsidising the salary for a full-time doctor who provides students, their families and local village residents with free medical care.Armadillo & Co is a long-time sponsor of Kantilal Vidya Mandir School (KVM), which educates many of our artisans’ children. Since 2014 we have fully funded all of KMV’s overheads, including teacher salaries, textbooks, school uniforms, equipment, utilities and maintenance.
Earlier this year, we installed solar panels and as a result the school now runs completely on sustainable energy.

On one of our recent India trips, we took part in an eye clinic where all students had their vision tested and those with sight problems were given free glasses. Through the foundation, this will now be held biannually.

Starting this year, the Foundation has pledged scholarships for the highest performing girls at KMV to help them complete their secondary schooling.
The nine-year scholarship will provide for each student to attend a local English-medium secondary school and cover school fees, transport, texts books, uniforms and all other costs. By 2026, we expect to have between 27 and 36 children enrolled in the program.

The Armadillo & Co Foundation believes that all children have the right to education in a safe, happy and nurturing environment, and we hope you’ll support us in giving as many children as we can, especially girls, this opportunity for a brighter future.
