• Our Story

  • The Ivy House was founded from a love of home and the belief that the objects we live with shape how we feel. Inspired by a home known locally as The Ivy House, our first Auckland showroom opened in 2014 with the desire to share the story of Armadillo’s handwoven rugs.

What began with a single collection has grown into a curated destination for natural, sustainable and beautifully made pieces for New Zealand homes.

  • Our Philosophy

  • We believe home is both sanctuary and stage; a place to restore, to create and to gather with those we love. The textures, tones and fibres that surround us play a powerful role in how we live and how we feel.

Natural materials hold a quiet energy that synthetic can never replicate. They connect us back to nature, grounding us in beauty and simplicity.

Why are there loose threads?

We call these loose threads 'pop ups'. Depending on the type of rug, you may see a strand of fibre sticking up from your brand new rug. These will occur occasionally as your new rug settles.
