Te Arai Residence by Du Bois Design

Te Arai Residence by Du Bois Design

Set in Te Arai, this home by Du Bois Design brings together natural timber, considered furniture and tactile materials throughout. Rugs were selected room by room to ground each space, adding warmth and texture beneath the architecture.
In the entryway nook, the Agra Burnt Umber rug makes a quiet statement – visible from both the dining space and outdoor courtyard, its rich, earthy wool ties the timber cabinetry and surrounding spaces together as you move through the home.

The Agra Thistle rug introduces a softer, more muted note – a quiet layer of texture that sits comfortably alongside the home's natural palette, adding depth without competing with the timber throughout.
Underfoot in the bedroom, the Agra Marlin rug creates a sense of calm, quiet luxury – its tonal, hand-knotted pattern grounding the room in understated comfort.
In the living space, the Odessa Zinc rug sits smartly against the fireplace, bookcase and layered seating – hand-knotted from pure Afghan wool, its natural striations bring depth and movement beneath the surrounding furniture.
Down the hallway, the Drift Natural & Black rug grounds the space against the timber cabinetry, its contrast and texture guiding the way through the home.
